About Fortified RRC

Who We Are

Fortified Rehab and Run Coaching offers both Physical Therapy services and running training plans, with or without daily coaching.

Physical Therapy: We treat a variety of clients suffering from various injuries and dysfunctions and work hard to determine the underlying root cause of the issue. After a thorough assessment, a tailored and customized treatment plan is developed to work towards getting the individual healthy and ready to do whatever it is that they love or need to do. Each treatment will be 55 minutes, or 30 minutes depending on the needs and direction of the therapist. All sessions are one-on-one with the Physical Therapist.

Run Coaching: Our run coaching plans start with a phone call or an in-person/virtual meeting to discuss the runners goals, needs, and lifestyle. We meet runners where they ARE and develop strategies to get them to where they want to GO, safely. We have worked with runners that are new to the sport, runners that have trained professionally or at the collegiate level, and everything in between. Plans are written to maximize performance while minimizing injury risk, all with a holistic approach. We take the entire person into account and consider current and future goals for performance and also for longevity.

Our Mission

At Fortified RRC, we care about you and your goals. We want to get to the bottom of whatever dysfunction is limiting you from what you want and need to do. Our run coaching plans are created with YOU in mind and we use physical therapy and exercise science to maximize your potential while creating a resilient and fortified version of yourself.

Our Story: Jennifer Moehring-Schmidt, PT, DPT, OCS, RRCA certified running coach

Since Jen was 16 years old, she knew she wanted to become a Physical Therapist. She watched her older sister, a talented runner at the time, be sidelined from her sport and eventually permanently so. Jen personally dealt with a multitude of injuries from participating in various endurance sports. She was in and out of Physical Therapist offices and it allowed her to really visualize the kind of PT she wanted to be. Jen developed and grew a passion for helping others (not just athletes) return to what they love, whether that was running a marathon, or walking up the stairs.

After completing a Bachelors in Exercise Science and a minor in Nutrition Science from Miami University (Oxford, OH) in 2005, she went immediately to the University of Colorado to obtain her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Graduating in 2008, Jen had already known that she wanted to truly engage with her clients and discover the root of the problem, the "why". For the last 17 years, Jen has used that passion and that curiosity to hone her skills as a rehabilitation specialist. She believes that the first step in becoming distinguished at anything is caring. The second being to become a constant consumer of knowledge, a life-long learner.

In 2011, Jen became certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling and in 2013, Jen sat for and passed the Orthopedic Certified Specialist examination, becoming a board-certified specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association. Jen is also well versed in Pelvic Floor therapy (external), and how it pertains to the female athlete returning to sport, after completing the external pelvic floor coursework through Julie Wiebe.

Aside from her didactic interests, Jen also has trained competitively in road cycling as a Category 2 racer. She now trains mostly for marathons and other distance races, returning to her first love of sport: running. In addition to virtual run coaching, she coaches cross country and enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion of the sport with her own children, and with the kids that she coaches.

When not working, Jen loves spending time with her husband, two adorable children and dog.  Jen is an  extreme animal lover and also helps with animal shelters as an intermittent foster mom.
